SCOPE
The TECHNION-Israel Institute of Technology and ISMAN-Russian Institute of Structural Macrokinetics and Materials Science have the pleasure of organizing the VI International Symposium on Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis (SHS-2001). The International Symposia on SHS are held every two years and address both fundamentals and applications of exothermal synthesis of materials and their processing. Previous meetings were held in Kazakhstan (Alma-Ata, 1991), USA (Honolulu, 1993), China (Wuhan, 1995), Spain (Toledo, 1997), and Russia (Moscow, 1999). These meetings are now recognized as one of the most important calendar events in SHS science and technology worldwide. The SHS-2001 Symposium will be held at Technion, Haifa, Israel on February 17-21, 2002 and not in October 2001 as originally planned. The decision to postpone the Symposium was made by the Organizing Committee following the tragic events of September 11 in New York and Washington, USA. The symposium will be held for 5 days with invited and contributed papers being presented on the science and technology of SHS. A lecture competition for students will also be organized.
